Plaistow NH business shredding for Route 125 shops and offices

Plaistow NH business shredding comes down to one number: the $129.95 Zone 1 pickup fee, the lowest we charge. Here is what that means for stores, dealers and offices on Route 125, with real prices for 5 to 40 boxes and a plan for clearing out a closing or moving business.

Zone 1 pickup $129.95 per job. 99¢ per pound, or $20 per banker’s box at 10 or more.

Quick answer

New Hampshire Document Shredding treats Plaistow as Zone 1, so a business pickup costs a $129.95 transportation fee plus the normal shredding rate: 99 cents a pound under 10 boxes, or $20 per banker’s box at 10 or more, plus $34.90 in per-job fees. Twenty boxes collected from a Route 125 business come to $564.85, shredded at our office at 1215 Main Street, Unit 115, Tewksbury, MA, with a Certificate of Destruction. Households and every other option are on our main page for document shredding in Plaistow NH.

Plaistow NH business shredding along Route 125

Plaistow’s business life runs along Route 125, the road locals call Plaistow Road. It carries shops, restaurants, service businesses and small offices from the Kingston line down to the Haverhill border, and it carries on south to I-495 in Haverhill. Almost every one of those businesses keeps paper it can’t simply throw out.

The paper differs by trade, but the problem is the same. Years of it build up in a back room, a storage unit or a basement under the store. Then a lease ends, an owner retires or an accountant says the old years can finally go, and somebody needs it gone properly within a couple of weeks.

Retail and service shops

Old invoices, payroll records, job applications and customer orders with names and card slips. One pickup a year usually covers it.

Dealers and lenders

Credit applications and consumer reports. The FTC names automobile dealers and lenders among the businesses the Disposal Rule covers.

Offices and agencies

Insurance agents, tax preparers, property managers and lawyers. Client files, closed matters and old returns past their retention date.

Medical and dental

Charts, intake forms and EOBs. We sign a Business Associate Agreement on request and issue a certificate with every job.

We shred at one place only, our office on Route 38 in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. There is no shop, kiosk or drop box in Plaistow, and we don’t bring a shredder to your lot. A pickup means our driver loads your sealed boxes and takes them back to Tewksbury, where they go through a cross-cut shredder.

Why Zone 1 changes the advice for a Plaistow business

Our pickup fee depends on distance. Plaistow borders Haverhill, and our zone chart groups it with Salem, Pelham and Windham in Zone 1. That makes a Plaistow pickup $129.95 per job, against $159.95 for greater Nashua and Manchester and $199.95 for the Seacoast.

The lower fee moves the break point. In Merrimack we tell a business with ten boxes to think about driving. In Plaistow, a business with ten boxes and a busy counter should usually book, because the fee is small next to two staff hours and a round trip on I-495. Our guide to pickup zones in New Hampshire shows where every town falls.

Pickup is our off-site shredding service. It always needs an appointment, and we never promise a same-day collection. Book a week or two out and pick a day when the person who signs for records is in.

The fee assumes ground-level or elevator access. A Route 125 storefront with a back door at grade is the easy case. A second-floor office above a shop, or records in a basement down a steep stair, carries a handling fee that we quote when you book.

Because the fee is per job, waiting doesn’t save money. A business that books at 15 boxes pays the same $129.95 as one that waits for 40, and avoids having 40 boxes of customer paper in a back room in the meantime.

What Plaistow NH business shredding costs, 5 to 40 boxes

Every bill has three parts. The shredding charge is 99 cents a pound under 10 boxes, or a flat $15 per small box and $20 per large banker’s box at 10 or more. The per-job fees are $14.95 for HIPAA filing, covering the certificate paperwork, and $19.95 environmental, covering recycling the shred. A pickup adds the Zone 1 fee. A full banker’s box of paper weighs about 30 pounds.

Totals include the $34.90 per-job fees. Five boxes priced by weight at 99¢ a pound, 10 or more at the $20 large-box rate. The pickup column adds the $129.95 Zone 1 fee. Stairs or restricted access add a handling fee, quoted up front.

The gap between the bars never changes. It is always $129.95. On five boxes that fee is most of the shredding bill. On forty boxes it is about 15 percent of the total, and it saves someone loading 1,200 pounds of paper into a car and unloading it again in Tewksbury.

Counter tip for small shops: at eight or nine boxes, add a tenth. Nine boxes by weight run about $267.30 before fees. Ten boxes at the $20 rate are $200. Every price we charge is on our shredding rates page.

Cleanouts: closing, moving or downsizing a Route 125 business

Most Plaistow business calls are cleanouts. A store is closing at the end of a lease. An office is moving up the road or across the line into Haverhill. A family business is changing hands and the new owner doesn’t want twenty years of the old owner’s files. The deadline is real, and the paper is the part nobody planned for.

  1. Separate what you must keep. Tax, payroll and employment records have retention periods. The IRS says employment tax records should be kept at least 4 years after the tax is due or paid, whichever is later. Box those for storage first.
  2. Pick one person to sign. The owner or office manager decides what goes, signs for the pickup and files the certificate. One name on the paperwork keeps the chain of custody clean.
  3. Seal and number every box. Banker’s boxes with lids, numbered on the side. Leave staples, paper clips and folders in. Take out binder rings and hanging-folder frames, and bag any old drives or phones separately.
  4. Book before the dumpster arrives. Schedule the pickup a few days before the cleanout crew or the movers. Files never go in a roll-off, and they should not sit in an empty store overnight.
  5. Catch the stragglers. The last sweep of desks and drawers always turns up a few more boxes. Drive them to our counter on the way past, or ask to add them before the pickup date.

For a very large volume, a warehouse of records for example, part of the work may go to a third-party certified plant rather than our office shredder. Ask about it when you book. Our longer guide to office cleanout shredding covers moving and closing in more detail, and our business page for Salem NH business shredding covers the next Zone 1 corridor over.

The disposal rules a Plaistow business is under

New Hampshire has no general paper-disposal statute for businesses. The duties come from federal rules tied to the kind of information you hold. Here is how they line up for the businesses we see from Route 125.

If your businessThe ruleWhat it asks for at disposal
Pulls consumer reports: dealers, lenders, insurers, landlords, employersFTC Disposal Rule, 16 CFR Part 682Burn, pulverize or shred the papers so the information can’t be read or rebuilt
Is a financial institution under FTC rules, such as a tax preparer or mortgage brokerFTC Safeguards Rule, 16 CFR Part 314Securely dispose of customer information no later than two years after you last used it to serve the customer, unless you need to keep it
Is a HIPAA covered entity or business associateHIPAA Privacy Rule, 45 CFR 164.530(c)Reasonable safeguards for paper with health information through disposal
Holds computerized personal informationNH RSA 359-C:20Breach notice duties for computerized data. Retire old drives by physical destruction

The FTC’s Disposal Rule guidance lists lenders, insurers, employers, landlords, mortgage brokers and automobile dealers among the covered businesses. If your shop runs credit checks on buyers or background checks on new hires, those reports go in the shred box when you are done with them. More on that rule is on our page about FACTA compliance in New Hampshire.

RSA 359-C:20 applies to computerized data, not paper. It is still the reason to treat an old point-of-sale computer or office laptop as seriously as a filing cabinet. Drives, tapes, USB sticks and phones are physically destroyed and quoted per item. Bag them apart from the paper.

Tax preparers and bookkeepers on Route 125 have one more reason to schedule a regular purge. The Safeguards Rule’s two-year disposal line means old client paper should not sit in a back room forever. Our page for CPA and accountant shredding goes through a tax-season routine.

What the town handles for a Plaistow business, and what it doesn’t

Plaistow’s curbside trash and recycling is collected by Republic Services, with toters out by 7 a.m. The town page is written for residents, and the town landfill at 37 Old County Road admits Plaistow residents only. Its page says plainly that no commercial dumping is allowed, and the list of what it accepts is brush, metals and yard waste.

So a business has its own hauler, usually a dumpster behind the plaza. That dumpster is not a destruction method. Anything in it can be pulled out and read before it is emptied, and a box of credit applications thrown in whole is exactly what the Disposal Rule is written to prevent.

Town Hall is at 145 Main Street. When we checked in November 2026 it was open Monday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Fridays. Plaistow’s ZIP code is 03865.

Cardboard and clean paper with nothing personal on it can go in your regular recycling. Everything with a name, an account number, a signature, a Social Security number or health details should be shredded first. The rule of thumb we give at the counter: if you would not tape it to the front window, shred it.

Drive it down or book the Zone 1 pickup

From Plaistow Town Hall the drive is about 21 miles, roughly 30 to 40 minutes outside rush hour. Take Route 125 south into Haverhill, join I-495 south toward Lowell, and leave at Exit 92 for Route 38. Our building is on Main Street in Tewksbury, with free parking out front. The full run, with timing, is on our page for the Plaistow to Tewksbury drop-off.

Drop-off is walk-in, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and paper is shredded the same business day. The slow spot on the drive is I-495 around the I-93 interchange in Andover at commuting hours, so a late-morning run is the easy one. Witnessed sessions and pickups are by appointment.

Our short version for Route 125: under ten boxes and a free hour, drive. Ten or more, or a counter that can’t spare anyone, book the pickup. A few folders you want to watch go through the shredder, book a witnessed shredding session. Our neighbours in Hampstead NH get the same choices with their own numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What zone is Plaistow in for business pickup?

Plaistow is in Zone 1, our lowest pickup zone, with Salem, Pelham and Windham. The transportation fee is $129.95 per job on top of the normal shredding rate and the $34.90 per-job fees. The price assumes ground-level or elevator access. Stairs or restricted access add a handling fee that we quote when you book.

How much does a 20-box pickup from a Plaistow business cost?

Twenty large banker’s boxes are $400 at the $20 flat rate. Add $34.90 in per-job fees and the $129.95 Zone 1 fee, and the total is $564.85. Twenty small boxes would be $300 for the boxes, so $464.85 in total. You get a Certificate of Destruction for the job either way.

Do you shred at our store on Route 125?

No. We do not shred at your address and we do not park a shredder at your curb. Our driver collects the sealed boxes and brings them to our office at 1215 Main Street, Unit 115, Tewksbury, MA, where they are shredded after they arrive. Boxes stay in locked handling the whole way.

How soon can you collect our boxes?

We never promise a collection on the day you call. Every pickup needs an appointment, so book a week or two ahead of a lease end, a closing date or a move. If the deadline is tight and the load is small, drive the boxes to our counter any weekday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. instead.

Can a Plaistow business use the town landfill for old files?

No. The town’s landfill on Old County Road admits Plaistow residents only, and its page says no commercial dumping is allowed. It accepts brush, metals and yard waste, not paper. A business dumpster is not a destruction method either. Files with personal or customer information should be shredded first.

Do car dealers and lenders have to shred credit reports?

The FTC Disposal Rule, 16 CFR Part 682, covers anyone who uses consumer reports, and the FTC names automobile dealers, lenders, insurers, landlords and employers. It expects reasonable disposal, such as burning, pulverizing or shredding the papers so they can’t be read or rebuilt. A certificate from each job is useful proof.

Do we need to pull staples before the pickup?

No. Leave staples, paper clips, binder clips, rubber bands and file folders in place. Take out three-ring binder hardware and hanging-folder frames, and keep anything that is not paper out of the boxes. Old drives, USB sticks and phones go in a separate bag and are quoted per item.

Is a contract required for regular pickups?

Not at all. There is no long-term contract. A Plaistow business can book one cleanout, or schedule a pickup each spring and fall. Every job is priced the same way: the shredding charge, $34.90 in per-job fees and the $129.95 Zone 1 fee, with a Certificate of Destruction each time.
