Quick answer
New Hampshire Document Shredding serves all of southern New Hampshire from one office at 1215 Main Street, Unit 115, Tewksbury, MA, about 15 minutes south of the Salem and Pelham line. You can drive your boxes there at 99 cents per pound, or book a pickup priced by zone: $129.95 for Zone 1 border towns such as Salem, Pelham, Windham and Plaistow, $159.95 for Zone 2 around Nashua and Manchester, and $199.95 for Zone 3 on the Seacoast and farther north, plus the same shredding rate and $34.90 in per-job fees. The exact zone is confirmed by your address when you book.
How our New Hampshire service area works
We are a document shredding business with one address. Every box from every New Hampshire town is weighed, logged and shredded at our office at 1215 Main Street, Unit 115, in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. That office sits on Route 38 near the I-495 interchange, a short drive south of the state line.
We do not have a branch in Nashua, a drop box in Manchester or a kiosk on the Seacoast. When people ask what our service area is, the honest answer is that it is defined by how you get your paper to Tewksbury. There are three ways, and they work from any town on this page.
You can drive the boxes down and walk in, no appointment, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can book a pickup, and a driver collects sealed boxes from your home or office and brings them back to the office to be shredded. Or you can book a witnessed session and watch your paper go through the shredder yourself.
Distance only changes one thing: the transport fee on a pickup. The shredding price is the same in Pelham as it is in Dover. Our shredding services page explains each option in full.
The three pickup zones around Tewksbury
Pickup pricing is set in three zones that spread out from the office. The zone depends on your address, and we confirm it when you book. Most towns fall clearly into one zone. A few on the edges, such as Hampstead between the border towns and Derry, can land in either of two, and Rindge sits far enough west that we confirm a custom figure starting from the Zone 3 fee.
| Zone | Transport fee | Where it applies | Towns with their own page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zone 1 | $129.95 | The Tewksbury area and the New Hampshire border towns | Salem, Pelham, Plaistow (Windham also Zone 1) |
| Zone 1 or 2 | $129.95 or $159.95 | Edge towns, set by street address | Hampstead |
| Zone 2 | $159.95 | Greater Nashua and Manchester | Nashua, Hudson, Merrimack, Milford, Brookline, Londonderry, Derry, Manchester |
| Zone 3 | $199.95 | The Seacoast and points farther north | Exeter, Hampton, Portsmouth, Dover |
| Zone 3 or custom | From $199.95 | The far west, confirmed at booking | Rindge |
Every zone fee is per pickup, not per box. The price assumes ground-level or elevator access, and a handling fee for stairs or restricted access is quoted before the job. Our article on how pickup zones change the price works through Nashua and Portsmouth examples side by side.

Drive times from New Hampshire towns to Tewksbury
We ran every route from the town center to 1215 Main Street through a routing engine and rounded the result into a range. The low end is an open road at midday. The high end allows for a slow merge at I-93 and I-495 or a school zone in a village center. Rush hour on I-93 can add more, so if you are driving from Manchester or Derry, aim to arrive between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
| Town | Usual zone | Approx. miles | Typical drive | Main roads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pelham | 1 | 11 | 25 to 35 min | Route 38 |
| Salem | 1 | 16 | 25 to 35 min | I-93, I-495 |
| Windham | 1 | 20 | 30 to 40 min | Route 111, I-93, I-495 |
| Plaistow | 1 | 21 | 30 to 40 min | Route 121A, I-495 |
| Hampstead | 1 or 2 | 24 | 40 to 50 min | Route 111, Route 28, I-93, I-495 |
| Hudson | 2 | 22 | 35 to 45 min | Route 3A, Route 3, I-495 |
| Nashua | 2 | 22 | 35 to 45 min | Route 3 (Everett Turnpike), I-495 |
| Derry | 2 | 25 | 35 to 45 min | I-93, I-495 |
| Londonderry | 2 | 25 | 35 to 45 min | I-93, I-495 |
| Merrimack | 2 | 30 | 45 to 55 min | Route 3, I-495 |
| Manchester | 2 | 35 | 45 to 60 min | I-93, I-495 |
| Brookline | 2 | 29 | 55 to 65 min | Route 130, Route 113, Route 3, I-495 |
| Milford | 2 | 33 | 55 to 65 min | Route 101A, Route 3, I-495 |
| Hampton | 3 | 37 | 50 to 65 min | Route 1, I-95, I-495 |
| Exeter | 3 | 38 | 55 to 70 min | Route 108, Route 150, I-495 |
| Portsmouth | 3 | 48 | 60 to 75 min | I-95, I-495 |
| Dover | 3 | 56 | 75 to 90 min | Route 16, I-95, I-495 |
| Rindge | 3 or custom | 49 | 80 to 100 min | Route 119, I-495 |
Two patterns stand out. First, the border towns are closer to our door than many Massachusetts suburbs. Pelham is about 11 miles away. Second, the western towns take longer than the miles suggest, because Route 101A, Route 130 and Route 119 are two-lane roads with village centers. Brookline is closer than Manchester in miles but takes about as long to drive.
Every route ends the same way: I-495 to the Route 38 interchange in Tewksbury, then a short run on Main Street. Parking out front is free, and staff come out to help you carry boxes in. Our drop-off shredding page explains what happens at the counter once you arrive.
What a pickup costs in each zone
The transport fee is the only part of the bill that changes with distance. Here is a ten-box job priced every way, using a large banker’s box at the $20 flat rate (ten boxes or more), so $200 of shredding, plus the $34.90 per-job fees on every job.
Read the chart from left to right and the rule of thumb writes itself. In Zone 1, a pickup costs $129.95 more than a 30-minute drive, so most border-town households drive. In Zone 3, the drive is an hour or more each way, so offices and big cleanouts usually book the pickup. The full price list, including witnessed sessions, is on our shredding rates page.
Pick the right option for your town
Where you live sets the transport fee. What you are shredding, and how much, decides the rest. Work through these in order.
- Count the boxes. A full banker’s box of paper weighs about 30 pounds. Under ten boxes, you pay 99 cents per pound. At ten or more, it is $15 per small box and $20 per large box, at the counter or on a pickup.
- Check your zone. Use the table above. Zone 1 towns are 25 to 40 minutes away, Zone 2 towns 35 to 65 minutes, and Zone 3 towns an hour or more. Rindge is the far end at up to 100 minutes.
- Price your time. A two-hour round trip for a Zone 3 household is a fair trade for $199.95 if you are retired and have the morning free. It is not for a practice manager who bills by the hour.
- Decide whether you need to watch. Personnel files, legal holds and estate papers sometimes call for a witnessed session at the office, at $1.99 per pound with a $100 minimum. If so, you drive down no matter which zone you live in.
- Book or just show up. Drop-off needs no appointment on weekdays. Pickups and witnessed sessions are booked ahead. We never promise a same-day collection, so book a pickup a week or two out.
Our comparison of drop-off vs off-site shredding goes deeper on the trade-off, and the page on off-site shredding explains how a pickup is handled from your door to the shredder. If you want to stand beside the shredder, read about witnessed shredding before you book.
Households
Most homes shred once or twice a year: after taxes, after a move, or when a parent’s house is cleared. In Zones 1 and 2, the drive almost always wins. In Zone 3, save up for one trip or share a pickup with a neighbour so one transport fee covers several homes. Our residential shredding page covers what to keep and what to shred.
Offices and practices
Businesses care about staff time and a clean paper trail. A pickup keeps people at their desks, and every job comes with a Certificate of Destruction. Medical and dental offices can ask for a Business Associate Agreement. Our medical shredding service page explains the HIPAA side.
Massachusetts customers use the same office
Our office is in Massachusetts, so of course we serve Massachusetts too. Customers from Tewksbury, Lowell, Andover, Billerica, Chelmsford, Dracut and the rest of the Merrimack Valley can walk in at the same counter, pay the same 99 cents per pound and get the same Certificate of Destruction. The Tewksbury area is part of Zone 1 for pickups.
That matters to New Hampshire readers for one practical reason. If you work in Massachusetts and live in New Hampshire, you probably pass within a few miles of our door twice a day. Throw the boxes in the trunk on a Monday, drop them on the way in or on the way home, and skip the pickup fee altogether.
Commuters on I-93 and I-495 have the easiest time of anyone. The office is a short run off the Route 38 interchange. Walk-in drop-off runs Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so a lunch break or an early finish is enough.
If your town is not on the list
The town pages cover the places we hear from most. They are not the edge of the map. We pick up from anywhere in southern New Hampshire, from the Massachusetts line up past Concord and out to the Monadnock region, and the price is set by your street address.
How we set the zone
When you book online or call (978) 636-0301, give us the pickup address, the number of boxes and whether there are stairs. We confirm the zone and the transport fee before the job is scheduled. Most towns between the border and Manchester land in Zone 1 or 2. The Seacoast and the Lakes Region side of the state are Zone 3.
Towns farther out
For the far west and north, the starting point is the Zone 3 fee of $199.95, with a custom quote if the run is unusually long. The same planning advice we give Rindge applies: shred less often and in bigger batches, or pool boxes with neighbours so one pickup does the work of several.
- One office for everyone: 1215 Main Street, Unit 115, Tewksbury, MA 01876
- Same shredding price in every town: 99 cents per pound, or flat box rates at ten or more
- Transport fee by zone, confirmed by address before the pickup
- Certificate of Destruction on every job, at no extra charge beyond the $14.95 HIPAA filing fee
- No contracts required, book one job at a time
Not ready to book? Free shred days run by towns, banks and credit unions can handle a box or two. Our shred events page explains how they work and their usual limits. Before a pickup, run through the shredding pickup checklist so the driver is in and out quickly.
The same process from every town
A box from Dover and a box from Pelham get exactly the same treatment once they reach Tewksbury. Distance changes the trip, not the security. Here is what happens after your paper arrives, whichever way it got there.
At the counter
Boxes are weighed on a scale you can see, and the price is set from that weight or the box count before anything is shredded. Walk-in paper is shredded the same business day. Pickup boxes stay sealed from your door to the office and are shredded after they arrive.
Hard drives, USB sticks, phones and CDs are set aside in their own bag. They are quoted per item and physically destroyed, separate from the paper. Our page on hard drive destruction explains that side of the job.
After the shredder
Paper is cross-cut shredded at the office, and 100 percent of the shred is sent for recycling. That is what the $19.95 environmental fee pays for. The $14.95 HIPAA filing fee covers the paperwork for your Certificate of Destruction, the record that your job was destroyed.
Keep that certificate with your records. A practice manager files it with the HIPAA binder, an executor with the estate papers, a household with the tax returns. Our guide to the certificate of destruction shows what it records and why it matters if anyone asks later.
Why does a business in Exeter or a family in Hudson need any of this? Federal rules expect it. The FTC Disposal Rule at 16 CFR Part 682 says anyone holding consumer report information should burn, pulverize or shred the papers so they cannot be read or reconstructed. HIPAA requires covered entities to keep physical safeguards on patient records, and that includes the day they are destroyed. If you are not sure what can go yet, the IRS says most income tax records can be destroyed 3 years after filing, with longer periods in some cases. Our how document shredding works article walks through the process step by step.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have an office or drop box in New Hampshire?
No. New Hampshire Document Shredding has one office, at 1215 Main Street, Unit 115, Tewksbury, MA, on Route 38 near I-495. It is about 15 minutes south of the New Hampshire line at Salem and Pelham. Every New Hampshire job is shredded there, whether you drive the boxes down or book a pickup.
Which New Hampshire towns do you serve?
All of southern New Hampshire. We have town pages for Salem, Pelham, Plaistow, Hampstead, Nashua, Hudson, Merrimack, Milford, Brookline, Londonderry, Derry, Manchester, Exeter, Hampton, Portsmouth, Dover and Rindge. If your town is not listed, we still pick up there. The transport fee is set by your address when you book.
How are the pickup zones priced?
Zone 1 is $129.95 for the Tewksbury area and border towns such as Salem, Pelham, Windham and Plaistow. Zone 2 is $159.95 for greater Nashua and Manchester. Zone 3 is $199.95 for the Seacoast and points farther north. Add the shredding (99 cents per pound or flat box rates) and $34.90 in per-job fees.
Is the shredding price different in different towns?
No. Shredding costs 99 cents per pound everywhere, or $15 per small box and $20 per large box when you have ten or more. The per-job fees are $34.90 on every job. Only the pickup transport fee changes by zone, and if you drive your boxes to Tewksbury there is no transport fee at all.
How long is the drive from Nashua or Manchester?
From Nashua, plan on about 35 to 45 minutes by the Everett Turnpike (Route 3) and I-495. From Manchester, about 45 to 60 minutes straight down I-93 to I-495. Both end at the Route 38 interchange in Tewksbury. Arriving between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. avoids the worst traffic.
Do you serve the Seacoast and Rindge?
Yes. Exeter, Hampton, Portsmouth and Dover are Zone 3 at $199.95 for transport, about 50 to 90 minutes from our office. Rindge, in the Monadnock region, starts at the Zone 3 fee and may need a custom quote, confirmed at booking. For both, saving up for one larger job keeps the transport fee from dominating the bill.
Do you serve Massachusetts customers?
Yes. The office is in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and Merrimack Valley customers use the same counter, prices and certificate as New Hampshire customers. The Tewksbury area is in Zone 1 for pickups. Many New Hampshire residents who commute into Massachusetts drop their boxes on the way to or from work.
Can you shred at my address instead?
No. We do not run a truck that shreds at the curb, and there is no on-site option. A pickup means a driver collects sealed boxes and brings them to the Tewksbury office to be shredded. If you want to watch, book a witnessed session at the office for $1.99 per pound with a $100 minimum, plus $34.90 in per-job fees.
